About our services at ncsc-da

Non-formal Vocational Training

The primary objectives of non-formal training programs at NCSC-DA centers are to provide adequate skills for those with disabilities who lack access to formal education and to impart vocational skills that are job-oriented and value-based. These programs are designed to help individuals acquire jobs or start self-employment ventures, addressing social prejudices and empowering them to face life's challenges. Additionally, they focus on the identity and rehabilitation of participants to integrate them effectively into the workforce and society.

Eligibility

Eligibility for training at NCSC-DA requires that the disability be not less than 40% as per the PwD Act 1995. For visual impairments, the criteria specify a visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 in the better eye, excluding one-eyed persons. For hearing impairments, a hearing loss of 60 dB or more in the better ear is required. Other required documents include passport-sized photographs, a disability certificate, UDID, Aadhaar card, educational certificates, and a caste certificate if applicable .

Career Services

The support systems at NCSC-DA promote social and economic integration by offering skill development, job placement services, and self-employment tools. These centers work as intermediaries between employers and job seekers, enhancing access to employment opportunities. While they successfully address skill deficits and provide critical resources, the effectiveness largely depends on the scale and reach of these services, societal attitudes, workplace accessibility, and ongoing governmental and corporate support. Continued advocacy and investment in these programs are crucial for addressing remaining barriers and achieving full integration .

Job Placement

NCSC-DA centers facilitate placements for trained persons with disabilities through job fairs, both online and offline, and by acting as a liaison between employers and job seekers. In addition to direct job placements, PwDs are supported through self-employment via subsidized loans and toolkits funded by CSR initiatives. The centers also offer job registration services, guidance, and counseling, prepare candidates for competitive exams, and suggest resources for further study. This holistic approach increases the chances of employment and supports long-term career sustainability.
